A grass land is a large terrain covered by grass and also contains wild flowers and herbs, also it has a variety of animals that it is able to sustain. Rainfall is less then in tropical savannas but not so dry to be a dessert the rain comes in early or late summer grasslands get usually 25-30 inches of rain a year. temperature can depend on the latitude and temperatures can range from -20c to 30c. the seasons in a grassland biome can by cold and dry or they can be by the ocean and get moisture through the wind. grassland biomes can be found in the prairies of the Great Plains of North America, the pampas of South America and in Australia. the grassland biomes contains many plants and grasses but the most common are blue gamma grass, buffalo grass, Johnson grass, and various sorts of wheat and burley. and common flowers include types of asters, coneflowers. Grassland biomes also contain a great number of animals like in north America their are bison, pronghorns, deer, mice, rabbits, grouse, badgers, skunks, meadowlarks, various owls, garter snakes, rattle-snakes, red-tailed hawks and prairie dogs. the soil in most grasslands is deep and dark. The upper layers are the most fertile because of the buildup of many layers of dead branching stems and roots. but there isn't many trees because there isn't much rain so there's more soil to make grass grow across the grasslands.
